The opportunity to give more importance and a broader knowledge of our ancient castle in the regional and, consequently, of our town, was voluntarily dismissed by the majority of the City Council that in the last session voted against the proposed membership of the Association "Tour of Castles and Villages Medieval "based in Palermo.
Nine city councilors, representatives from the five members of the minority group council "Always Calatabiano" and four other Municipal Councillors Mr and Mrs A. Moschella, R. Prestipino, N. Zappulla, C. The Limina, considered economically costly as the sum of 1000 euro membership fee to the association and irrelevant reasons underlying its activities.
The Association has already made a permanent network between public and private universities, is located in the region and beyond working together for the following purposes.
- Maintenance, enhancement, enjoyment, study and research on scientific issues and related social or cultural heritage, tangible and intangible, related to the castles and medieval villages.
- Programming and Promotion in a unified and integrated tourist and cultural resources of the territories belonging to the associated entities.
- Networking of castles and medieval towns, national and international circuits.
- Development of entrepreneurship in business linked to cultural enjoyment.
- Marketing and sale of products and services related to the goals listed above.
- Use of new technologies applied to the processes of communication and promotion of cultural heritage.
However, the municipal councilors felt that the activities listed above were of little importance to the promotion and enhancement of our historical and cultural heritage!
